Make a travel map from your photos
Your phone already knows where you’ve been. Almost every photo it takes carries the place and time it was taken. ZikZak reads that and turns years of photos into one map of your travels – without you typing in a single place.

How it works
- Choose your photos. Pick them from your phone or computer, drop in a whole folder, or bring them from Google Photos with a Takeout export.
- ZikZak finds the places. It reads each photo’s location and date, works out where home is, and groups the photos taken away from home into trips.
- Your map fills in. Every trip is drawn from home, the countries you’ve visited light up, and each place opens as a memory with its photos.
You can rename trips, gather places into collections, add notes and keep adding photos later – new trips simply join the map. Photos that have no location are counted at the end of the import, and you can place them by hand.
Private by default
Your photos are read in your own browser. Without an account nothing leaves your device. If you create a free account and save your atlas to the cloud, the copies we keep have their camera data, including GPS, removed. A shared link is a separate, view-only copy: it rounds locations to about 1 km, leaves out your home and never shows file names. The details are in the privacy policy.
What you need
A web browser and photos with location data. Most phone cameras save it unless it has been switched off. On iPhone, turn on Location under Options in the photo picker so the places come along. HEIC photos work too.

Questions
Is ZikZak free?
Yes. ZikZak is free, with no ads. You don’t need an account to make your atlas; a free account only adds a cloud copy and sharing.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Your photos are read in your browser and stay on your device, unless you choose to save your atlas to the cloud or share it. Cloud copies have GPS and other camera data removed.
Why are some photos missing from the map?
Only photos with location data can be placed automatically. Screenshots, edited copies and photos from some messaging apps often lose it. ZikZak tells you how many had no location, and you can place them yourself.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Your atlas is kept in your browser. Create a free account only if you want a cloud copy to open on another device, or a link to share.
